WHAT IS THE CHEAPEST WAY TO STORE WATER
SPREADSHEET: Most Economical Way to Store Water
Many people ask me about the best way to store water for their home. My response is always "water drums" (or barrels). It is the cheapest, safest and most environmentally friendly way to store water for long periods. This spreadsheet compares the cost of maintaining two 55-gallon drums of water over 20 years verses storing water in water bottles or 2.5 gallon containers.
HOW MUCH WATER?
It is always a challenge to get your home and family prepared. I figure the easier I make it, the more likely you are to prepare yourself ready. This spreadsheet will let you know how many gallons of water you should be storing. It is broken down into minimum (3 days), recommended (7 days) and ideal (14 days) storage according to the number of individuals you are preparing for. It also provides the recommended number of drums in each size (5, 15, 30 & 55 gallon drums) you should purchase based on the amount of water you need.
WHERE DO I GET WATER DRUMS AND OTHER EMERGENCY SUPPLIES?
DOCUMENT: Emergency Supply Vendors
The number one question I am asked when I talk about storing water in drums, is "where can I get these drums?" Most emergency supply stores have them and many more supplies that will assist you in an emergency. The attached document is a list of vendors. It is not a comprehensive list, and individuals are encouraged to always be careful when shopping on-line. Also, please shop around for the best prices.
WHAT CAN SCHOOLS DO TO PREPARE FOR AN ACTIVE SHOOTER INCIDENT?
Active Shooter Preparedness Checklist for Schools
Unfortunately schools are faced with preparing not only for natural hazards, but also man-made threats. This checklist is designed as a guidelines for the first steps schools should consider when asessing, planning, training and exercising the school site and personnel for targeted school violence.
